I got this 1934 chevy rat and information technology was registered in NY. NY doesn't accept a championship but just a registration. the previous owner gave me the transferrable registration with a vin number and the old tag number assigned to the vehicle in NY but in that location is no vin tag on the truck anywhere. he didn't know what the number was , it was the number given to him when he bought the truck and he was able to annals information technology in NY with just that info. does anyone know how I should best get about registering information technology in texas?

If at 1st you dont succeed... destry all evidence that you tried

I would stamp a vin tag to match the numbers and mount it in the door jam or wherever.  My 30 Pontiac came from NY with the same transferable registration.  Pennsylvania required information technology be inspected by a "hot rod" certified mechanic. My VIN tag appears to be stamped and not original.

Outset off, they'll demand a safety inspection by a licensed prophylactic inspection shop. Your title application must include the Standard of Safety Statement (Form VTR-470), signed by an official inspector. The inspector will brand sure your vehicle has all the necessary safe equipment, such as the correct mirrors, adequate brakes, headlights, turn signals, seat belts, and then forth. When looking for an inspection station, attempt to cull one that has inspected custom-built vehicles before (in other words, they have feel determining whether such unique vehicles are safe). For the state to event your cosmos a vehicle identification number, or VIN. Be prepared to manus over all receipts or bills of sale for all components that you used to assemble the vehicle (this means keeping diligent records for the duration of your projection). This is partly then the state can make sure neither the chassis nor whatsoever of the parts were stolen, and also to assistance make up one's mind the value of the vehicle.

These are the items that will be inspected:

Dearest edifice rat rods, driving mustangs, and building websites.

I got a beak of sale with the truck from the previous owner and a list of items he did to information technology but he bought information technology from someone else who started it. information technology was registered to him in NY but that'southward all I accept from him. besides I plant this commodity on vin tags ...

I just plant this article on the vin tags for early chevys

what do I do to register this truck without a vin number?

I but talked to the previous possessor... he originally had a title out of Wisconsin that had the original title with all the numbers on information technology that he had to surrender to the DMV in NY when he registered the truck. he no longer has any other info than what he gave me which was the NY transferrable registration. apparently that's how information technology works there. I have besides found that pre 1950s chevys had no vin numbers merely rather a build tag that was attatched to the forest floor and nearly pre 50s chevys accept lost them and information technology is well known. I guess I accept no alternative other than to go to the texas DMV with what I have and see what happens... unless anyone has any other advice or knowledge... I promise I didn't buy a $5k useless garage paperweight. or worse... have it confiscated every bit an unknown stolen...LOL... ( im laughing to proceed from crying)

If at 1st y'all dont succeed... destry all testify that you tried

I know that dorsum in the xc's I bought a 39 Chevy that had an outdated title and no vin. So with a $700 dollar investment in an attorney and the state Police I ended upwards with a vin and a good title. Unfortunately at the time that I sold it I should have sold my married woman at the time and kept the auto. Only that is some other story or affiliate in my life.
Accept you tried to fine an attorney that deals in vehicle titling?

Basically, yous just need to take it in for an inspection, get the grade signed off that it's a safe vehicle. Later on that, accept a bill of sale and a few receipts showing you've spent money to make the build and you did the build. The DMV will so assign you a title and vin. It may take a niggling pes work, simply you can get er done and y'all'll end upwardly with a vin number for a special congenital vehicle.

Love building rat rods, driving mustangs, and building websites.

I've got my cars original championship from the guy who bought information technology new in 1929 from Colorado. I haven't begun dealing with the state of TX with getting it titled and registered but I am not looking forward to it.
Mine has a long ways to become and it has been made up of several other Model A'south, a 70's Camaro, an El Camino, VW seats and so on.

Allow me know how your adventures in TX registration goes. I am not worried about the inspection, merely the part about dealing with the state.
